Key dates
- Last day to register online: Mon, Oct 5Online registration closed on Monday, October 5, 2026 (the fifth Monday before the election, O.C.G.A. 21-2-224). The Secretary of State's election page lists 'Last day to register to vote: October 5th.' If a December 1 runoff happens, the registration deadline depends on the race: for a runoff in a federal race (U.S. Senate or U.S. House) you can register through Monday, November 2, 2026; for a runoff in a state or local race the deadline stays October 5. Fulton County's official key dates list 'Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, October 5' and 'Voter Registration Deadline (Federal races): Monday, November 2' for the General Runoff, and Gordon County's 2026 election calendar shows the same two dates, with Nov. 2 marked 'Runoff for Federal Offices.'
- Last day to register by mail: Mon, Oct 5Paper applications had to be postmarked by Monday, October 5, 2026 (VOTE411: 'online, mail (postmarked), and in-person registration' all closed that day).
- Last day to register in person: Mon, Oct 5In-person registration at a county registrar's office, a Georgia DDS (driver's license) office, or a public library closed Monday, October 5, 2026. Georgia has no same-day or Election Day registration.
- Early voting: Tue, Oct 13 to Fri, Oct 30Early voting (Georgia calls it 'advance voting') runs Tuesday, October 13 through Friday, October 30, 2026. The SOS page lists 'In Person Early/Advance Voting: October 13th - 30th' and georgia.gov says it 'ends on the Friday immediately prior to Election Day.' It started on a Tuesday because Monday, October 12 was a state holiday. Georgia.gov lists typical hours of 9 AM to 5 PM weekdays and 9 AM to 4 PM Saturdays, and says counties may go longer (many metro Atlanta sites run 7 AM to 7 PM). Required days are Monday through Friday plus 'the second and third Saturdays before Election Day,' which are October 17 and October 24, 2026 (georgia.gov has an event page for the first Saturday, October 17). Sunday voting (October 18 and 25) is optional by county; Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Gwinnett have offered it in recent elections. You can vote at any early voting site in your county. Exact sites and hours are on My Voter Page and your county elections site (Fulton announced 32 sites).
- Last day to ask for a mail ballot: Fri, Oct 23Your county had to receive your application by Friday, October 23, 2026 (11 days before the election, O.C.G.A. 21-2-381). The SOS page says: 'First day to request an Absentee by Mail Ballot: August 17th (Last day is October 23rd).' That deadline has passed, so vote in person.
- Mail ballot deadline: Tue, Nov 37:00 PM ET
- hand-deliver to your county board of registrars / elections office by 7:00 PM on Election Day (georgia.gov: 'take it to your County Board of Registrar's Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day')
- mail (USPS), only if you allow at least a week; it 'must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day', postmarks don't count
- a family member, someone who lives in your household, or your caregiver may deliver it for you; nobody else may (O.C.G.A. 21-2-385(a))
- Election Day: Tue, Nov 3You can vote from 7 AM to 7 PM. Georgia.gov: 'As long as you are in line by 7 p.m., you are allowed to cast your ballot.' On Election Day you must vote at your assigned precinct (look it up on My Voter Page; it may differ from where you voted early). If you show up at the wrong precinct before 5:00 PM you'll be sent to the right one. After 5:00 PM you may cast a provisional ballot there only if you sign a statement that you can't get to your own precinct in time (SB 202, O.C.G.A. 21-2-418).
